Elmer Avenue, Sun Valley, CA

Elmer Avenue is the largest “Green Street” in Southern California. The project’s primary objective is to capture annually, 16-acre feet of stormwater, allowing it to infiltrate soils to replenish the aquifer for future use.

Before, Elmer Avenue had drainage issues, making the street flood whenever there was rainfall. Improvements include water capture and infiltration galleries, bioswales, roof top water harvesting, native planting, smart irrigation controllers with drip irrigation, solar street lamps, permeable interlocking pavers, concrete curbs, gutters, and sidewalks.
